KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has called a meeting of the party’s office-bearers for 3 p.m. Thursday.
According to party Joint General Secretary Ramhari Khatiwada, the meeting will discuss several issues, including changes to departmental responsibilities.
The audio controversy is another reason behind the meeting. NC leaders have been on the defensive after an audio recording surfaced allegedly revealing an Rs 180 million deal to secure the party’s official recognition.
The recording was reportedly leaked as a statement given to police by accused Inam Sapkota. The controversy has drawn Thapa into the dispute.
The party clarified the matter through a statement on Wednesday. However, the meeting has also been called as the party felt the need to discuss the issue further, according to an offic-bearer.
