KATHMANDU: The government has formed a four-member team to hold talks with Dr. Govinda KC who has been staging a hunger strike over decisions made by the Medical Education Commission.
Jayaram Adhikari, joint secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports, leads the talks team. Joint secretary from the Ministry of Health and Food Safety, the member-secretary of the Medical Education Commission and an undersecretary from the Ministry of Education and Sports are the other members of the committee.
Dr KC started his hunger strike in Ilam on October 29 to protest the commission’s decision to hike student quotas and allow media calleges to run academic programs, including MBBS, without meeting legal standards and infrastructure requirements.
