117 foreign tourists rescued

KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has said that 117 of the 517 foreign visitors who went out of contact following Wednesday’s devastating Bhotekoshi floods have been rescued.

According to Hikmat Singh Ayer, the Officiating CEO of the NTB, 85 visitors from India, 16 from China, nine from South Korea, and two each from the US and Italy have been rescued.

Similarly, three other tourists, whose nationality remains uncertain, have also been rescued, according to the NTB.

Security personnel, travel companies and guides are involved in the search and rescue of tourists, according to Ayer.

The NTB also said that it was coordinating with various agencies to collect and verify details of missing persons and is regularly updating the information.
