POKHARA: Two Indian tourists, who fell into Phewa Lake after their boat capsized due to strong winds and waves on Tuesday evening, were rescued safely.
The gusty winds and rough waters caused two boats to overturn in the lake, following which Dheeraj Korwal (40) and Vikas Korwal (35) fell into the lake.
A 10-member disaster management team led by Armed Police Force (APF) SI Raju Thapa, deployed at the Phewa Watch and Rescue Tower, carried out the rescue operation at around 6:15 pm. No casualties occurred as the tourists were wearing life jackets.
The Armed Police Force’s No. 24 Kalika Battalion in Kaski has established a rescue tower at Phewa Lake and has been providing immediate response and rescue services for any incidents occurring on the lake.
