Two buried to death while digging foundation for a house in Pokhara

POKHARA: Two laborers died after being buried by a mound of soil while digging the foundation of a house in Pokhara on Thursday afternoon.

Police say the two were working in a foundation pit at Chisapani, Andhiyarkuna in Pokhara-18.

The deceased have been identified as Bikram Sunar, 29, of Mahashila Rural Municipality-6, Parbat and Raju Kumal, 37, of Palungtar Municipality-7, Gorkha.

The laborers were working in a pit about seven feet deep when a mound of soil suddenly collapsed on them. Separate teams from the Ward Police Office, Bagar, and the Armed Police Force Nepal’s No. 24 Kalika Battalion in Malepatan, along with local residents, rescued the two and rushed them to Manipal Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Sunar was pronounced dead at 5:04 pm, while Kumal was declared dead about one and half hours later, according to DSP Birendra Kumar Paswan, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kaski.

Police are investigating the incident, Paswan said.
