KATHMANDU: Sudhan Gurung and Mahabir Pun were sworn in as Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation on Tuesday.
President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy amid a ceremony at the Office of the President.
The two were appointed on the recommendation of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, according to the Office of the President.
Gurung, a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker from Gorkha, had earlier resigned as Home Minister after questions were raised against his property. The government had subsequently formed a team to investigate his property details. The committee has reportedly given a clean chit to Gurung. However, the report has not been made public yet.
Similarly, Mahabir Pun, an independent lawmaker from Myagdi, served as Minister for Education, Science and Technology in the interim government led by Sushila Karki before the March 5 polls.
