KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered the police to produce industrialist Shekhar Golchha in the court within 24 hours.
A single bench of Justice Nripadhwaj Niraula issued the order on Tuesday, hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Shekhar’s spouse, Seema Golchha.
Seema filed the petition, arguing that police had unlawfully detained her husband.
“Issue a notice to the defendants, attaching one copy each of this order and the writ petition, directing them to submit a written response along with the detainee through the Office of the Attorney General within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Upon receipt of the written response within the stipulated time, or following the expiry of said period, retrieve the case file, under which the petitioner is reportedly being investigated via an extension of remand, and present it before the court according to the rules,” the bench said in the order.
Golchha was arrested on charges under the Securities Act, 2007. The Kathmandu District Court granted a three-day extension for his detention on Monday.
