KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) snapped its two-day losing streak on Wednesday, gaining 33.27 points to close at 2,866.87 points.
The market remained in positive territory for most of the session, with the index climbing to an intraday high of 2,879.22 by mid-session. Although the Nepse index trimmed some gains toward the close, it still ended the session 1.17% higher.
Investor sentiment was upbeat, as unit prices of 221 scrips advanced on Wednesday, while 45 declined, and three remained unchanged. Trading activity also remained robust, with total turnover climbing to Rs 10.53 billion and 26.43 million units traded through 123,359 transactions.
Seven scrips hit the 10% poisitive circuit during the session. Shivam Cement logged the highest trading volume on Wednesday, with shares worth Rs 580.96 million traded. National Hydropower Company Ltd and Reliance Spinning Mills Limited followed with turnovers of Rs 571.12 million and Rs 494.19 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in the green on Wednesday. Hotels & Tourism sub-index posted the highest gain of 3.16%. Next were Trading and Hydropower sub-indices with gains of 2.33% and 2.14%, respectively.
