KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has questioned whether the government will make public the report of the probe commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki on the incidents of September 8 and 9.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, NC lawmaker Bhishma Raj Angdembe asked Prime Minister Balendra Shah whether the government would make the report public.
Stating that the party’s long-standing position, that the guilty must not escape and the innocent must not be punished, remains unchanged, he urged the government to act responsibly while upholding legal procedures and norms.
Angdembe expressed concern over the arson and vandalism at the Parliament building and Singha Durbar during the September protests. “Why was the Parliament building reduced to ashes? Why did Singha Durbar burn? Why were so many physical structures destroyed?” he questioned.
The NC leader said incidents of both September 8 and 9 must be investigated. “It is wrong to focus on incidents of one day, while ignoring the others,” he added.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the Karki-led probe commission. “It chose not to investigate the incidents of September 9, citing a lack of time. Such an act is not appropriate,” he added.
