Nepse gains 14.21 points; turnover slightly falls to Rs 13.16 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted a gain of 14.21 points to close trading at 2,950.16 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week.

The benchmark index, which snapped a five-day winning run with a loss of 24.45 points on Wednesday, had moved into negative territory during early trading on Thursday as well. However, it recovered after the hour mark and mostly remained in the green territory until the close.

Unit prices of 178 scrips advanced during the session, while 80 declined and eight remained unchanged. NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 942.98 million worth of shares traded. SY Panel (Nepal) Ltd and National Hydropower Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 719.25 million and Rs 463.28 million worth of shares traded.

Despite the index’s gain, total turnover slightly fell to Rs 13.16 million. A total of 30.43 million units were traded through 142,733.

Among trading groups, nine ended the session in the green, while three posted losses and one remained unchanged. Trading posted the biggest loss of 2.84%. Similarly, the hydropower sub-index logged the biggest gain of 1.56%.
