KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a three-day losing streak on Monday, inching up by 2.41 points to close at 2,616.97.

The index had lost 56.52 points over the previous three sessions. Interestingly, this was only the fourth occasion that Nepse ended in the green this month.

The Nepse index fluctuated throughout the session before settling slightly higher at the close. Although the index posted early gains, reaching an intra-day high of 2,627 points, it remained mostly in negative territory. A late pullback toward the closing moment ensured that it ended the session higher.

Unit prices of 140 scrips declined during the session, while 113 advanced and nine remained unchanged. Total turnover fell further to Rs 5.13 billion, with 12.62 million units traded through 56,347 transactions.

Ankhu Khola Jalvidyut Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 360.29 million worth of shares traded. Ridi Power Company Ltd and SY Panel (Nepal) Ltd followed with total turnovers of Rs 32.95 million and Rs 287.88 million, respectively.

Among sectoral indices, six posted gains and the remaining seven ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from 0.41%, while the Development Bank sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.9%.
