Nepal to face Bhutan in SAFF U-20 Championship opener

KATHMANDU: The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) has announced the fixtures for the SAFF U-20 Championship to be hosted by the Maldives.

A total of seven teams are participating in the championship to be held in Male from March 23 to April 4.

Participating teams have been divided into two groups. Nepal are in Group A alongside the hosts, the Maldives, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka. Similarly, Group B consists of defending champions India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

Nepal will face Bhutan in their opening match on March 23, play Sri Lanka on March 25, and take on the Maldives on March 27.

The top two teams from each group, following the single round-robin league, will advance to the semifinals.

Meanwhile, ANFA, on Tuesday, published a list of 80 players in the first phase of preparations for the championship.
