KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reduced the prices of petrol by Rs 4 per liter and diesel and kerosene by Rs 5 per liter. The new prices will come into effect from Wednesday midnight.
Following the adjustment, petrol will retail at Rs 159 per litre, while diesel and kerosene will cost Rs 137 per liter each in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and other Tarai towns.
The NOC has also reduced Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to Rs 128 per litre for domestic airlines. For international flights, ATF has been priced at $973 per kilolitre in Kathmandu, $771 in Pokhara, and $759 in Bhairahawa.
NOC has been supplying ATF at Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa at subsidized rates, in line with the government’s policy to attract more international airlines to the two airports.
Issuing a statement, NOC said a meeting of its Board of Directors held on Wednesday decided to reduce prices on the basis of the new price list received from its sole supplier, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
According to NOC, IOC has reduced the purchase prices of petrol, diesel/kerosene, and ATF by Rs 4.19, Rs 5.06, and Rs 8.15 per liter, respectively. However, IOC has increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs 100.35 per cylinder (14.2 kg).
Despite the rise in the LPG purchase price, NOC has decided to keep the retail price of cooking gas unchanged.
