KATHMANDU: The government has formed a judicial committee to investigate the death of Ganesh Nepali of Soru Rural Municipality-1 in Mugu.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday formed the committee under the coordination of former High Court Judge Keshav Prasad Bastola. Former Deputy Attorney General Krishna Mohan Koirala and Former Joint Secretary Ramuraj Kadariya are members of the committee, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.
The committee has been given seven days to conduct the necessary investigation and submit its report.
Nepali died while undergoing treatment at the Burn Unit of Bir Hospital on July 10, a day after he set himself on fire.
Following his death, the government, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the victim’s family had reached a nine-point agreement. Forming a judicial committee to investigate Nepali’s death was one of the points of the agreement.
