Unity not possible by erasing existence of others: Ghising

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister and Patron of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, Kulman Ghising, has said that unity cannot be achieved by erasing anyone’s existence.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Ghising said that new political forces must come together by accepting and respecting all sides. “Unity does not mean eliminating others,” he said. “True unity is moving forward while recognizing everyone’s existence and ensuring mutual respect.”

Ghising also said that public wants to see new political forces united. “Since the people’s desire is for these emerging forces to come together, they must abandon ego and unite around shared goals,” he added.

His comment has come at a time when his party is in talks with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Desh Bikas Party, which is believed to be the political vehicle of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah, for party unification.

He also said the country is now set to move forward with new thinking, new leadership, and a new direction. “Political change has become inevitable now. I request all the people to take the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 as a crucial opportunity to shape the nation’s future,” Ghising said.

Stating that elections provide a chance to choose capable, honest, and people-accountable leadership, Ghising called on everyone to act with awareness and responsibility. “The country can no longer move forward in the old way,” he said. “What the nation needs is leadership that can guide it along a new path. The people themselves must step forward to provide that leadership.”
