KATHMANDU: The government has decided to dissolve the Land Problem Settlement Commission.
A cabinet meeting held on Thursday took the decision, according to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel.
Kharel said that the government has decided to dissolve the commission and all its district committees formed under the Land Problem Resolution Commission Formation Order, 2024.
The KP Sharma-led government had formed the commission in October last year to resolve problems related to squatters.
Similarly, the cabinet has declared Ilam district a crisis-hit zone for a period of three months. As many as 37 people died in Ilam due to floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall on October 3 and 4. Hundreds of others are displaced.
The meeting also decided to forward the report of the committee formed to investigate issues related to immigration and visit visas to the Ministry of Home Affairs for implementation.
Likewise, the cabinet decided to promote Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of the Nepal Police, Sushil Singh Rathaur, Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Himalaya Kumar Shrestha, and Dambar Bahadur BK, to the rank of Additional Inspector General (AIG).
The meeting further decided to send the report of the committee formed to study Tribhuvan University’s land and immovable property to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for implementation.
Similarly, the cabinet has decided to forward the report of the High-Level Study and Recommendation Committee formed for reforms in the civil aviation sector to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation for implementation.
Moreover, the cabinet also decided to allow Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to issue energy bonds to raise Rs 20 billion to build hydropower projects.
