KATHMANDU: The Nepali men’s national cricket team is leaving for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday to play a T20 series against the West Indies.
This will be the first-ever bilateral series between the two sides. The matches will be played on September 27, 29 and 30.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed on Sunday that all players have received their visas. The team’s departure, originally scheduled for September 19, was delayed by a few days due to the Gen Z protest in Nepal.
Nepal is treating the series as part of its preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier to be held in Oman. After the West Indies series, Nepal will travel to Oman for the Asia and East Asia Pacific regional qualifiers among nine teams. The teams have been divided into three groups of three teams each. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Stage. The top three teams from the Super Six stage will qualify for the T20 World Cup.
