Prime Minister Sushila Karki
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki is holding consultations to expand her cabinet.
According to sources close to the prime minister, the process of selecting new ministers has reached its final stage after Gen Z representatives submitted their list of nominees for inclusion in the government.
The new ministers are expected to be sworn in on Monday, the day of Ghatasthapana — the first day of the Dashain festival. Since Gen Z representatives have already provided names, the allocation of portfolios in the remaining ministries is nearly finalized, a source said.
The final call, however, will rest with Prime Minister Karki.
The Prime Minister’s Secretariat has also said that the cabinet will take final shape by Monday to ensure an inclusive and representative government.
Karki, who was appointed Prime Minister on September 12, inducted Rameshore Khanal, Kul Man Ghising and Om Prakash Aryal into her cabinet last week.
The source said discussions on appointing renowned scientist Dr Mahabir Pun as Minister for Education, Science and Technology are ongoing.
