KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) closed 27.9 points lower at 2,822.46 points as the market resumed trading after a three-day gap on Monday.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, it erased all the gains and eventually ended the session 0.97% lower.
Unit prices of 220 scrips declined and 30 advanced during the session. Shivam Cement logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 538.86 million worth of shares traded. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 428.32 million and Rs 366.05 million, respectively.
Except for the Others and Mutual Fund sub-indices, all other sectoral indices ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Microfinance sub-index, which went down by 2.35%. The next biggest losses were in the Development Bank and Trading sub-indices, with declines of 2.31% and 1.44%, respectively.
Total turnover improved to Rs 10.21 billion compared to the previous session, as 25.09 million units of securities were traded through 98,525 transactions.
