RPP expels Bagmati parliamentary leader Uddhav Thapa

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has expelled Uddhav Thapa, leader of its Bagmati Province parliamentary party, stripping him of even his ordinary party membership.

The RPP’s Central Committee took the disciplinary action after Thapa defied party instructions to support CPN-UML lawmaker Kiran Thapa Magar’s bid to become Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.

Thapa had also failed to submit a response to a clarification sought by the party.

According to RPP Chairperson Rajendra Lingden, the party has decided to recommend that Thapa also be removed as a member of the provincial assembly.

RPP’s Central Committee on August 5 had decided that the RPP would not participate in provincial governments.

The 12 RPP lawmakers from Bagmati Province were informed of the decision at the party office the following day.

The party again sent them a written directive on August 17 not to support or oppose any provincial government.

Thapa was elected to the Bagmati Provincial Assembly from the Kathmandu-8(B) seat of the Bagmati Province Assembly.
