KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Dirgha Bahadur Rawal, took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.
NRB Governor Biswo Nath Poudel administered the oath at a ceremony held at the central bank, the central bank said in a statement.
After the swearing-in, Governor Poudel congratulated Rawal and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure.
Rawal formally assumed office on Thursday itself.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday had decided to appoint Rawal to the position.
Rawal has over two decades of experience in the central bank. He joined the NRB as an Assistant Director in 2005. He was promoted to Deputy Director in 2012, Director in 2018 and Executive Director last year.
Before he was appointed Deputy Governor, Rawal had been serving as the head of the NRB’s Bank Supervision Department.
