KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli visited the flood-hit Rasuwagadhi and surrounding areas in Rasuwa on Tuesday afternoon.
A sudden flood on Lhendekhola River, a tributary of Bhotekoshi River, early Tuesday morning swept away the Nepal-China friendship bridge, and damaged several government buildings and infrastructure like hydropower projects, bridges and roads. Likewise, many electric vehicles imported from China and awaiting customs clearance and containers bringing imported goods from China, were also washed away.
Rescue workers have recovered seven bodies, while 18 others, including six Chinese nationals, are missing.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Raju Aryal and Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, among others, were also in the team.
