Makhan fire brought under control; one dead

KATHMANDU: A woman died in a fire caused by a gas leak in Makhan Tole of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24 on Wednesday morning.

According to Apil Raj Bohara, the spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the fire broke out in a four-story house owned by Dayaram Shrestha. “The fire was caused by a gas leak. The victim’s body has been recovered,” Bohora said, adding that the identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained.

The blaze had also spread to a neighboring five-story house owned by Rukesh Shrestha.

Armed Police Force (APF) Joint Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa said the blaze has now been brought under control. He said the unidentified victim is about 65-70 years old.
