KATHMANDU: The death toll from the Bhotekosh flood has risen to 768.
According to the latest update released by the Nepal Police, a total of 768 bodies have been recovered from the flood-affected areas.
The highest number of deaths has been reported in Chitwan, with 264 fatalities, followed by Nawalparasi East with 194 and Nawalparasi West with 100. Similarly, 58 bodies were recovered in Gorkha, 52 in Nuwakot, 50 in Dhading, 37 in Tanahun and 13 in Rasuwa.
More than 2,500 are missing. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 27 Nepal Police personnel, 45 Nepali Army personnel and 13 Armed Police Force personnel have gone out of contact since the August 26 disaster. Others missing include 15 customs office employees, four immigration office employees, three Langtang National Park employees and three quarantine office employees.
Similarly, 592 foreign nationals and 127 Nepalis accompanying foreign nationals are also among the missing. Likewise, 562 have been reported missing in Rasuwa, 115 in Dhading and 65 in Makwanpur.
