KATHMANDU: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has expressed grief over the death of Nepali student Prisa Shah at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic demise of a Nepali student of KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” the ministry said in a press release on Friday. “The ministry has been in constant touch with the Odisha State Government since we became aware of the tragic incident. The state government has extended full support to the family of the deceased, and a thorough enquiry is currently being conducted by the Police.”
The ministry also said that the Indian government takes the safety, security and well-being of all international students very seriously. Likewise, it said that the ministry was in close contact with the Nepali authorities to ensure real-time communication and coordination.
Prisa Sah, a first-year BTech student from Birgunj, was found dead in her hostel room at KIIT on Thursday evening. Three months earlier, Prakriti Lamsal, of Bhairahawa, was found dead in the same university.
