Death toll in disaster incidents rises to 49

KATHMANDU: At least 49 people, including 32 in the Kathmandu Valley alone, have died across the country due to floods and landslides caused by continuous rainfall since Thursday afternoon.

According to Dan Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson for Nepal Police, 49 people have died in disaster accidents throughout the country. “Likewise, 40 others are missing and 34 are injured,” Karki said. “This is the information that we have received so far. The numbers may rise as we are awaiting data from our units.”

According to police, 16 people died in Lalitpur, 11 in Kathmandu and five in Bhaktapur districts. Likewise, 17 are injured and seven are missing in three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.

“Security personnel have so far rescued 1,053 people from different parts of the country,” Karki added.
