KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a retired police officer on charges of raping a woman.
According to the victim, former Sub-Inspector Anirudra Yadav entered her room under the pretext of drinking water and sexually assaulted her, threatening to throw acid on her mother’s face. The victim mentioned that Yadav also warned her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
The victim further revealed that Yadav returned a few days later, threatened her showing a bullet, and assaulted her again.
Yadav has refuted the allegations, police say.
The District Government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu has filed a rape charge against Yadav at the Kathmandu District Court.
