MAKWANPUR: An assistant head constable of Nepal Police died after a truck hit his scooter at Thanabharyang along the East-West Highway at Hetadua-11 of Makwanpur.

DSP Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Makwanpur, said Kiran Shrestha (36) died when a truck carrying iron bars rammed into Shrestha’s scooter from behind. He died while undergoing treatment at Hetauda Hospital.

Both the scooter and the truck were heading toward Hetauda Bazaar from Nawalpur.

Shresha, a resident of Tadi–6 in Nuwakot, had been serving at the Nepal Police Special Security Battalion in Ratomate, Makwanpur.

Police have taken the truck and its driver, Ranjit Karki of Jitpur-2 of Bara, under control for further investigation.
