KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak for a sixth straight session, losing 10.25 points to end trading at 2,088.04 points on Wednesday.
Although the market began brightly, reaching an intra-day high of 2,120.28 points, it lost momentum thereafter and ultimately closed the day 0.48% lower.
Share prices of 153 companies declined on the day, while 80 advanced, and 14 remained unchanged. Share prices of Chandragiri Hills Ltd and Mid Solu Hydropower Ltd hit the positive circuit of 10%, while share prices of Terhathum Power Company hit the negative circuit of 10%. Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with Rs 251.56 million worth of shares traded. Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Arun Kabeli Power Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 130.56 million and Rs 121.01 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, all the trading groups, except for Banking and Mutual Fund, posted a loss on the day. The biggest loss came from the Investment sub-index, which was down by 1.65%. Following closely were the Hydropower and Trading groups with a loss of 1.27% and 1.08%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 3.89 billion were traded on the bourse through 90,210 transactions.
