NEA urges industries to apply for review of its decision

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has requested industries, whose power supply has been cut off due to non-payment of dedicated and trunk line tariffs, to apply for the review.

Speaking at a press meet in Kathmandu on Thursday, NEA Executive Director Kul Mang Ghising said such consumers have no alternative but to apply for the review or settle outstanding dues through installment payments. “We cannot offer waivers especially when directives had already been issued to settle dues from dedicated feeder and trunk line users,” Ghising added.

NEA cut power supply to industries with outstanding dues on the direction of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

“Therefore, I request industries to engage in the review process by depositing a specified amount in the NEA’s review committee,” he added.

NEA has cut power supplies to six industries that, it claims, have outstanding dues running into billions of rupees. They include Sarbottam Cement, Laxmi Steels, Jagamba Steels, Reliance Spanning Mills, Arghakhanchi Cement, and Ghorahi Cement.
