Six Indian nationals arrested for kidnapping two Nepali youths Representative Image

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested six Indian nationals on the charge of kidnapping two Nepali youths.

Dipendra Mahat of Ratnanagar and Krishna Thapa of Bharatpur had left their home on a motorbike for Chapur of Rautahat on December 21. Two days later, Thapa left a message on his wife’s Facebook Messenger that they had been kidnapped, and a sum of Rs 600,000 was needed for their release.

Thapa’s wife subsequently filed a verbal complaint at the District Police Office, Chitwan. Chitwan police immediately communicated the matter to Rautahat police.

The Rautahat police managed to rescue the two youths in coordination with the Indian Police from Dumra in Sitamarhi district of Bihar State. The Indian Police also arrested Ram Naresh Kumar, Akbari Rain, Naim Akhtar, Kaisar Ali, Shadab Saim, and Irshad Sheikh on Wednesday on the charge of kidnapping Nepali youths.

The six Indian nationals have been handed over to Rautahat police for investigation.
