KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) on Wednesday said that it has placed manpower and equipment on standby at all its units to respond to potential monsoon-induced disasters.

DSP Shailendra Thapa, the joint spokesperson for the APF, stated that 13 heavy equipment units are on standby at various locations, including the APF Headquarters in Kathmandu, Baraha Brigade (Koshi Province), Maheshwari Brigade (Karnali), Baidhyanath Brigade (Sudurpashchim), Disaster Management Training School in Kurintar (Bagmati), Disaster Response Battalion in Kathmandu (Bagmati), and Kalika Brigade (Gandaki).

In addition, the APF has deployed 107 motor boats, divers and rafting boats across its 44 units in 31 districts. Furthermore, 33 Disaster Relief System (DRS) containers have been placed on standby at 17 APF units in 14 districts.

The APF has assigned one mass casualty ambulance to each of its seven provincial units and the Disaster Management Training School in Kurintar.

According to Thapa, the APF has deployed a platoon at each of its seven provincial units, with ten training schools on standby to respond to monsoon-related disasters.
