KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order against the government’s decision to withdraw the case against the people who assaulted Associate Professor Prem Chalaune.
A single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma also issued a show cause order in the name of the government.
Students affiliated with the Nepal Students Union – the student wing of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) – had attacked Chalaune at the Tribhuvan University Campus two years ago.
The government had booked Hari Acharya, Yogendra Rawal, Deepak Raj Ojha, Rupesh Shah, Rabin Kumar Lama, Sayuj Shrestha, and Niraj Rana Magar on the attempt to murder charges. But the cabinet meeting held on June 13 decided to withdraw the case against them.
Chalaune challenged the decision at the Supreme Court.
