Nepali envoy to China submits credentials, 10 months after his appointment

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s ambassador to China, Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Monday submitted his letters of credence to Chinese President Xi Jinping, 10 months after his appointment.

The credential ceremony of 72 ambassadors based in Beijing was held collectively at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday.

Addressing the ceremony, Chinese President Xi congratulated the ambassadors on their appointment and extended his best wishes for their successful tenure.

Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, Qin Gang, State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Hong Lei, Chief of Protocol, and other high-ranking officials of the Government of China were present on the occasion, according to a statement issued by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.

Shrestha was appointed as Nepal’s ambassador to China on June 23 last year. He submitted a copy of his letters of credence to Chief of Protocol Hong Lei at the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cina, on August 8.
