KATHMANDU: The Nepali community in Hong Kong celebrated Chinese New Year with great fanfare and rejoicing.
The Miss Nepal Hong Kong Society organized an event named ‘Nepali Everest Night 2024’, targeting the young population. Manish Limbu, one of the organizers of the event, said that more than 1,600 Nepali people were present at the grand event held on Sunday evening. “Even though the event was focused on the young crowd, we saw people from all age groups,” he added.
Deepmala KD was the Master of Ceremony of the event, which featured performances by artists like Rajesh Payal Rai, Sushant KC ft The Bangers, Sameer Shrestha, Nogen Limbu, Dik S Tamang, and comedian Vicky Aggarwal. Likewise, teams from Glokis Dance Studio and Divine Dance Studio also performed at the event.
The event was organized at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, with ticket prices ranging from 400 to 1,000 Hong Kong dollars.
A group of Gurungs residing in Hong Kong also organized a special cultural performance titled ‘Rodhi Saanjh’ at Yuen Long Theater. The group invited more than 20 artists from Nepal for the performance.
