Seven ministers in Lumbini assigned portfolios

LUMBINI: Lumbini Chief Minister Jokh Lal Mahara has assigned ministerial portfolios to seven members of his cabinet.

According to the Office of the Chief Minister’s Cabinet, Bumishwar Dhakal has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Urban Development and Water Supply, while Dinesh Panthi will handle the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Law, and Communication. Likewise, Arjun KC has been assigned the responsibility of the Ministry of Forest and Environment, while Ratna Bahadur Khatri is the Minister for Social Development.

All four are from CPN-UML. Chet Narayan Acharya of UML has already assumed responsibility for the Ministry of Finance.

Likewise, Dharma Bahadur Chaudhary has been given the responsibility of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport; Khadga Basnet as the Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Cooperatives; and Bhagwati Adhikari as the Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens.

Chaudhary is from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, Basent is an independent province assembly member, while Adhikari is from CPN (Unified Socialist).

Bhandari Lal Ahir of the Janata Samajbadi Party, who was given the responsibility of the Agriculture and Land Management Ministry, has tendered his resignation.

Chief Minister Mahara has kept the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation with him.

Mahara was appointed Chief Minister with the support of 48 province assembly members from five political parties.
