Nepse snaps three-day gaining streak

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a three-day losing run and closed trading at 1,998.96 points on Thursday.

The benchmark index started losing value right after the trading day began on Thursday. Although the market made recovery attempts during the session, it eventually closed 0.36% lower.

Share prices of 161 companies declined on the day, while 78 went up and five remained unchanged. IME Life Insurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 287.75 million traded. Next were Pokhara Finance Ltd and Gurkhas Finance Ltd with turnovers of Rs 217.82 million and Rs 158.01 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, only Microfinance and Trading sub-indices posted gains All other sub-indices posted losses led by Hydropower sub-index which was down by 1.11%.

Shares worth Rs 4.13 billion were traded on the bourse through 64,181 transactions.
