Karnali Province: Five ministers, one minister of state sworn in

SURKHET: Karnali Chief Minister Yam Lal Kandel on Tuesday gave full shape to his cabinet, three weeks since its formation.

Kandel on Tuesday inducted three ministers from CPN (Maoist Center), and two ministers and one minister of state from his party CPN-UML in his cabinet.

Province Chief Tilak Pariyar administered the oath of office and secrecy to five ministers and one minister of state amid a ceremony on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Kandel had earlier forged an understanding with the Maoist Center that the two parties would get four ministries each.

Ran Singh Pariyar of the Maoist Center had already been appointed as a minister in the provincial government. He has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy Development. The other three ministers from the party include Mahendra KC, Bir Bahadur Shahi and Durga Bahadur Rawat. KC is the Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Shahi has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Development, while Rawat is the new Minister for Tourism, Forest, and Environment.

Likewise, the UML has sent Sher Bahadur Budha, Bikas Kumar Shah, and Gamata Bishwakarma to the cabinet. Budha has been given the responsibility of the Minitry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development, while Bishwakarma is the Minister of State for the same ministry.

Shah, who has been assigned the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperative, however, boycotted the swearing-in ceremony. He has been staking his claims for the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperative.
