KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Vice Chairman Surendra Pandey said on Sunday that it was wrong to hold Bhat-Bhateni Super Market Promoter Min Bahadur Gurung in custody for investigation into the Lalit Niwas land grab scam.
Addressing a program in Kathmandu on Sunday, Pandey stated that the investigation could be conducted without keeping Gurung in custody. “Gurung’s arrest has created a climate of fear among business people,” Pandey, who is also a former finance minister, said.
Pandey also said it was wrong to treat business people like criminals. “Gurung 28 outlets of Bhat-Bhateni Super Stores across the country. Will he flee?” he questioned. “This won’t benefit the business and the industrial sector. It should be corrected.”
