Lalita Niwas Scam: 16 released on bail, one on general date

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted bail to 16 out of 17 individuals who were in police remand for their involvement in the Lalita Niwas land grab scam. One individual, Keshav Tuladhar, has been released on general date.

The court has set the highest bail bond of Rs 24.6 million for Min Bahadur Gurung, the chairman of Bhat-Bhateni Super Market. Likewise, Shivaji Bhatt’s bail bond has been set at Rs 330,000, while Rudra Kumar Shrestha and Bal Krishna Shrestha are required to furnish bail bonds of Rs 750,000 each. Kaladhar Deuja’s bail bond is set at Rs 150,000.

Similarly, Ghman Kumar Karki, Yograj Poudel, Narayan Raj Mishra, Arun Kumar Shrestha, and Gopal Karki have been ordered to pay bail bonds of Rs 750,000 each, while Binod Poudel’s bail bond is set at Rs 1.5 million. Likewise, Dhruva Prasad Aryal’s bail bond is Rs 330,000, and Babu Raja Maharjan, Dev Narayan Maharjan, Saklananda Maharjan, and Sanjay Kumar Maharjan are each required to pay bail bonds of Rs 110,000. Lok Hari Ghimire’s bail bond is set at Rs 150,000.

A single bench of District Judge Bhola Nath Dhakal issued the order.

The Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office has filed charge sheets against 310 individuals at the Kathmandu District Court.
