Three former ministers including Gachchhadar acquitted

KATHMANDU: The Special Court has acquitted Nepali Congress leader Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar in Lalita Niwas land scam.

A division bench of the Special Court Judges Khushi Prasad Tharu, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ritendra Thapa said Gachchhadar cannot be convicted solely based on the policy decision.

The Special Court also acquitted former ministers Dambar Shresth and Chandra Dev Joshi,  and former secretary Dinesh Hari Adhikari stating that charges against them cannot be established.

However, former secretaries Dip Basnyat and Chhabiraj Panta have been convicted. They have handed a fine of Rs 8.04 million and a prison terms of two years each.
