UML quits Karnali Province Government

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has quit the Karnali Province Government. Three UML minister in the province government Sunday tendered their resignations to Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma.

Minister for Industry, Environment, and Tourism, Jit Bahadur Malla, said his party decided to step down considering the political scenario created in the country after the presidential election held in the second week of March. “We have decided to step down so that Chief Minister Sharma can work in a comfortable environment,” he added.

Along with Malla, Tek Raj Pachhai was serving in the province government as social development minister, while Binod Kumar Shah was the economic affairs minister.

Sharma was appointed Chief Minister with the support of UML, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party on January 11. He took a floor test on March 31 after RPP withdrew its support to the government. He got the support of 38 province assembly members.
