Sampang, Begha in verbal duel over Facebook post

ITAHARI: Dharan Mayor Harka Sampang is in hot water for sharing a YouTube video on his official Facebook page.

Sampang posted a YouTube video about Deputy Mayor Aindra Bikram Begha on his Facebook page around two weeks ago. The video portrays Begha as a toxic person.

During the Municipal Executive meeting on Sunday, Deputy Mayor Begha challenged Mayor Sampang to verify the claims made in the video. He also criticized Sampang for removing portraits of the President and the Prime Minister from his chamber.

Begha accused Sampang of attempting to create unnecessary controversy by sharing baseless videos about him.

Sampang shared the controversial video on his Facebook page on January 2.

“Is this a joke? Why did you share baseless content about me? I supported you wholeheartedly. Is this how you treat your supporters?” Begha told Sampang during the meeting.

Sampang remains active on social media platforms and enjoys the praise from his followers. He often goes live on social media platforms and interacts with his followers. However, one social media post that he shared has landed him in a difficult situation. He was at a loss for words when Deputy Mayor Begha challenged him to verify the claims made against him in the video.

In response, Sampang told Begha that he was not receiving support from others in his conflict with the ‘center’.

Sampang was referring to apologies extended by Deputy Mayor Begha for the removal of portraits of the President and Prime Minister from Sampang’s chamber. “You are not the one to tender apologies. If there is a need to tender apologies, it is me who is going to apologize,” Sampang told Begha.

Other members of the Municipal Executive remained silent while the Mayor and Deputy Mayor engaged in a heated exchange of words.

Meanwhile, the portraits removed from Sampang’s chamber have been installed at the Municipal Executive Meeting Hall.
