Ruling coalition won’t hesitate to impeach Speaker: Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the ruling coalition could impeach Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday, Oli said: “They tried to impeach the President many times, but failed. They won’t hesitate to bring impeachment motion against the Speaker.”

Oli’s statement has come at a time when lawmakers of the ruling parties have registered amendments in the House regulations draft to remove the prerogative rights of the Speaker.

Interstingly, Oli also had rifts with former Spekers Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Agni Prasad Sapkota. Both of them are from the CPN (Maoist Center).
