Ruling coalition wins 18 out of 19 seats in National Assembly election Ruling coalition candidates receiving certificate of election in Madhesh Province.

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has announced the results of the National Assembly election held on Thursday. The EC held the vote to fill 19 seats in the upper house that are becoming vacant on March 4.

Four parties of the ruling coalition – Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Janata Samajbadi Party – fielded common candidates in the election. Candidates of the ruling coalition have been elected in all but one seat in Koshi Province. Rukmini Koirala of CPN-UML defeated Champa Devi Adhikari of CPN (Maoist Center), who was the common candidate of the ruling coalition, to secure her seat in the upper house. This is the only seat that the UML won in the National Assembly election. Krishna Prasad Sitaula of Nepali Congress has also been elected to the National Assembly from Koshi Province.

Pooja Chaudhary of Janata Samajbadi Party and Anand Prasad Dhungana of Nepali Congress were elected from Madhesh Province. Both are candidates of the ruling coalition.

Similarly, Bishnu Devi Pudasaini and Jit Jung Basnet of Nepali Congress, Ghanashyam Rijal Bishwakarma of CPN (Unified Socialist), and Shrikrishna Prasad Adhikari of CPN (Maoist Center) were elected from Bagmati Province.

Likewise, Manarupa Sharma of Maoist Center, and Padam Bahadur Pariyar and Kiran Babu Shrestha of Nepali Congress have been elected to the National Assembly from Gandaki Province.

From Lumbini Province, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota of Nepali Congress and Jhakkuprasad Subedi of (Maoist Center) have been elected to the National Assembly.

Similarly, Sabitri Malla of Unified Socialist, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma of Maoist Center, and Krishna Bahadur Rokaya of Nepali Congress have been elected to the upper house from Karnali Province.

Likewise, Renu Chand of Maoist Center, and Narayan Datta Bhatta and Baldev Bohora of Nepali Congress have been elected to the National Assembly from Karnali.
