KATHMANDU: The National Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a special resolution expressing concern over the loss of lives and property caused by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa on August 26.

National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal presented the special resolution at Tuesday’s meeting, which was endorsed unanimously by the lawmakers.

The resolution paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the flood and expressed condolences to the bereaved families, relatives, and the countries and communities affected by the disaster.

“The government must pay special attention to maintaining national unity for disaster management through the cooperation, collaboration, and coordination of all three levels of government, local communities, civil society, the private sector, development partners, and the international community to reconstruct physical infrastructure, while adopting effective measures to reduce future disaster risks,” the special resolution presented by Chairperson Dahal states.

It also called for the scientific management of the bodies recovered from the disaster.
