Prez tells parties to strengthen federal republic by implementing constitution

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed concern over growing public disappointment due to a lack of full-fledged implementation of the constitution. He urged political parties to enact necessary laws for full-fledged implementation of the constitution.

Talking to leaders from all political parties represented in the Federal Parliament at the Office of the President on Monday, Poudel called for a commitment to establish an inclusive federal democratic republic. “This constitution has bestowed power upon the oppressed, neglected, and marginalized sections of society. The international community has praised our constitution for safeguarding these rights. However, its complete implementation is yet to be realized in practice,” he stated. “The people’s disappointment stems from the non-implementation of the constitution.”

Poudel called upon leaders to collectively work towards fulfilling the people’s aspirations by achieving an inclusive federal democratic republic.

Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, parliamentary party leaders of parties represented in the federal parliament, and chairpersons of parliamentary committees, among others, were present on the occasion.
