KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its gains for a third consecutive session, closing 38.19 points higher at 2,783.85 points on Monday—the first trading day of the week.
The benchmark index lost 6.93 points in the past week.
The market posted gains early in the session and remained in green territory throughout the session. Unit prices of 247 scrips advanced during the session, while 18 declined and four remained unchanged. Total turnover increased to Rs 4.61 billion with 10.43 million units traded through 68,444 transactions.
Among individual stocks, First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha posted the highest gain of 14.19%, while Trishuli Jalvidyut Company Ltd logged the biggest loss of 2.87%. On the other hand, Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 211.11 million worth of shares traded. Next were National Hydropower Company Ltd and SY Panel (Nepal) Ltd with turnovers of Rs 176.03 million and Rs 161.04 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in the green on Monday. The Others sub-index posted the highest gain of 2.11%. Finance and Hydropower sub-indices followed with gains of 1.81% and 1.79%, respectively.
