KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a two-day winning streak on Tuesday, slipping by 9.24 points to close at 2,777.10.
With this, the index returned to losing ways after adding 44.23 points over the past two sessions.
Although the benchmark index posted gains during early trading, it lost momentum after reaching an intraday high of 2,791.86 points. It remained in the red territory for the remainder of the session.
Unit price of 190 scrips declined during the session, while 69 advanced and 11 remained unchanged. Total turnover dropped to Rs 4.85 billion with 11.87 million units traded through 52,751 transactions.
Among individual stocks, Kalinchowk Hydropower Ltd logged the highest gain of 9.23%. On the other hand, Super Khudi Hydropower Ltd posted the biggest loss of 3.6%. Ankhukhola Jalvidyut Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 467.26 million traded. Next were Ridi Power Company Ltd and Sahas Urja Ltd with turnovers of Rs 165.92 million and Rs 141.66 million, respectively.
Two sub-indices posted gains, while the remaining 11 closed the session in the red. Non-life Insurance sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.35%. The biggest loss came from the Investment sub-index, which fell by 0.69%.
