KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index ended its four-day losing streak on Tuesday, posting a modest gain of 8.78 points to close trading at 2,712.86. The index lost 92.35 over the pat four sessions.

With this gain, the index moved above the psychological support level of 2,700 points.

Although the index moved into negative territory in early trading, it recovered and hit an intraday high of 2,726.02 points. The index pared some gains as the session progressed, but still ended 0.32% higher.

Unit prices of 162 scrips advanced during the session, while 90 declined and 16 remained unchanged. Total turnover, however, slipped to Rs 3.33 billion, the lowest since December 24 last year, with Rs 7.49 million units traded through 60,265 transactions. Nepse logged turnover of Rs 3.19 billion on December 24, 2025.

Upper Lhorekhola Hydropower Company posted the highest gain of 11.16%, while Forward Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha logged the biggest loss of 9.31% on Tuesday.

Solu Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 235.71 million traded. Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd and National Hydropower Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 127.81 million and Rs 115.21 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, seven posted gains, while the remaining six ended the session in the green. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 0.29%. On the other hand, the biggest gain came from the Hydropower sub-index, which rose 1.02%.
